Meet Nelson McIlveen
Mountain Pure Water doesn’t make the systems we sell — we curate them. And the line we chose, Sentry H2O, was built by a man who has spent his whole life making things that can’t fail.
Not a marketer who found water — an engineer who built it
Nelson D. McIlveen didn't stumble into water filtration. He's a career engineer and tool-maker who ran the manufacturing divisions of Fortune 500 companies across the U.S., Asia and Mexico before he ever started a business of his own. When he talks about how a filter is built, it's because he's spent a lifetime building things that have to work.
He owns the factory — that’s the part nobody else can say
In 2006 Nelson founded Celtic Plastics, a Tempe, Arizona injection-molding company that makes precision parts for the aerospace, military and water-filtration industries. Most water-filter brands buy their housings from a third party. Nelson makes his, giving Sentry H2O direct oversight of the housings it uses instead of outsourcing them.
It started, like most good things, at his own kitchen sink
Sentry H2O began when Nelson grew concerned about the water his own family was drinking. So he did the obvious thing for an engineer with a factory: he built a multi-stage filtration line, backed it with independent lab testing, and manufactured it in the United States — the line Mountain Pure Water carries today.
And when it mattered, he showed up
After the 2023 Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, Nelson sent 2,000 under-sink systems to the community — the first 500 free to any resident who showed a water bill. That’s not a marketing campaign. That’s a guy who builds clean-water systems deciding that people who needed clean water should have it.

Published third-party lab results are linked from our Science page. We do not call the complete systems NSF certified: Sentry H2O uses tested or certified components where applicable, and the lab reports are independent tests of water samples.
30-day returns + manufacturer warranty
Eligible products may be returned within 30 days after delivery; restocking fees apply. Sentry H2O hardware carries a 1-year warranty, with lifetime support. Cartridges and media are consumables and are excluded; no lifetime media warranty.

Who we are
Mountain Pure Water sells Sentry H2O water filtration systems for homes, wells, animals and emergency kits, along with VIQUA whole-home UV units. Mick Preston is co-founder of Mountain Pure Water. Our Learn guides are published under his name, and his author page lists every one.
What we sell, and how we work with Sentry H2O
We're an authorized distributor of Sentry H2O, and we don't manufacture anything ourselves. Sentry H2O makes the systems and ships the orders. Orders usually ship within a week: Sentry H2O ships standard items on Mondays and Thursdays and usually ships whole-home systems on Fridays, and a well-water system ships after its configuration is confirmed with you. Our part is helping you choose, answering questions, and coordinating returns and warranty claims.
How we check what we publish
We publish Sentry H2O's independent lab results on our Science page with their limits: which samples, which lab, which units, and what a result does not prove. A report on one home's water is not a certification, and we don't call a complete Sentry H2O system NSF certified. When a claim has no document behind it, we leave it out.
Who answers your questions

Who we serve
We serve Utah and ship across the United States: Ground shipping is free on every order to the contiguous U.S., Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico ship for $10, and we ship to U.S. addresses only.
Shipping, returns and support
Eligible products can be returned within 30 days after delivery. Sealed products other than whole-house systems carry shipping fees only; opened ones carry a 10% restocking fee. Sealed whole-house systems carry a 10% restocking fee, and opened or custom whole-house systems 25%. Call us before sending anything back so we can give you return instructions. Sentry H2O hardware carries a one-year warranty with lifetime support; cartridges and media are consumables and are not covered. Where are the products made?+
Sentry H2O states that its under-sink, shower and whole-house systems are made in the USA with U.S. and European components, and that the filter media is German-derived.
How do returns work?+
