The portable system and its filter sets
We carry one portable system, the Sentry H2O Portable System. It puts Sentry H2O filter media in a unit with a carry handle, a hook for hanging and plug-and-go garden-hose fittings, and it goes from box to filtered water in under 15 minutes. The unit is the same either way; the filter set is the choice. Standard pairs ToxyGuard and AlkaGuard for known treated water, like a campground hookup on city water. The Premium Upgrade pairs BioChemGuard and AlkaGuard for emergencies and for sources you can't verify. Replacement sets come in the same two versions on the portable replacement filters page.
What it treats, and what we can't claim
The Standard set's ToxyGuard stage is the catalytic-carbon media aimed at chlorine and chloramine, and AlkaGuard is designed to add minerals back. The Premium set's BioChemGuard uses Argonide NanoCeram PAC media, which Sentry confirmed in writing. In Argonide’s own media tests it reached >5 LRV retention of a test bacterium and >3 LRV cyst retention. These are Argonide’s own media tests of NanoCeram and NanoCeram PAC, not a test or certification of the finished Sentry system, so disinfect water that may be microbiologically unsafe.
The manufacturer doesn't publish removal percentages for this product, so we don't either. In an emergency, follow local advisories and the EPA's emergency disinfection guidance for any water that may be contaminated.
Capacity, setup and replacement
Replace the installed filter set at 12 months or 3,000 gallons, whichever comes first; the 3,000 gallons is per set, not per cartridge. There's no power cord and no drain line, and it runs on the pressure in your hose. We don't have a published flow rate for the portable system, so we don't quote one. A heavily used barn or event setup will reach 3,000 gallons long before a weekend camper does, so count gallons rather than months when the system works hard.
Storing water and planning for emergencies
A filter is one layer of a preparedness plan, not the whole plan. The prepper water gap works through how much water to store and where a renewable filtration layer fits, and our emergency preparedness page shows how the portable system fits a kit.
Animals and livestock
At a barn hose or a trough, the portable system connects with the same garden-hose fittings. See animal health water filtration for barn and kennel setups, and water for horses and livestock for why water quality matters to animals. Animal guidance on this site is general, not veterinary advice.

No More Filling Carboys!
My husband and I have now purchased 2 Sentry filtration systems… one (home) under-the-sink kitchen mount and one portable for our RV. We’d spend the last couple of years filling 5 gallon carboys with drinking/cooking water as the municipal source is unacceptable, so this has proven to be a great solution for us and such peace of mind!
Review of Sentry H2O BioChem OTG Bottle
Love the water bottle
I love the water system and shower filter. Huge, huge difference. I then purchased the water bottle, love that as well. I take it with me to the restaurant and put the water in to filter out the chemicals. Big thumbs up on this entire system.
Frequently asked questions
How many gallons does a portable filter set last?+
Replace the installed filter set at 12 months or 3,000 gallons, whichever comes first. The 3,000-gallon figure is per installed set, not per cartridge.
Which filter set should I choose?+
Standard (ToxyGuard and AlkaGuard) is for known treated water, such as a campground hookup on city water. The Premium Upgrade (BioChemGuard and AlkaGuard) is for emergency use and for sources you cannot verify. Sentry confirmed in writing that BioChemGuard uses Argonide NanoCeram PAC media.
Can I use it with stream or lake water?+
Use the Premium filter set for any source you cannot verify. In Argonide’s own media tests, the NanoCeram media in BioChemGuard reached >5 LRV retention of a test bacterium and >3 LRV cyst retention. These are Argonide’s own media tests of NanoCeram and NanoCeram PAC, not a test or certification of the finished Sentry system, so disinfect water that may be microbiologically unsafe and follow local health advisories and EPA emergency disinfection guidance when a source may be contaminated.
Does the portable system need power or a drain?+
No. It connects with standard garden-hose fittings, runs on the pressure in the hose, and sends no water to a drain.
