Why it matters

The Portable System, in short.

The same heavy-duty Sentry H2O filtration as your kitchen — now it travels. Big carry handle, hanging hook, plug-and-go hose fittings: set it up at the campsite, the barn or the RV in minutes and get clean, mineral-rich, alkaline water on demand.

Standard filters are for known treated water. The Premium Upgrade includes BioChemGuard + AlkaGuard for emergency and uncertain sources. Replace the installed filter set at 12 months or 3,000 gallons, whichever comes first (per installed filter set).

Naturally alkaline

Minerals added back — pH 8.2.

The AlkaGuard stage is designed to add calcium and magnesium back and gently raise pH. Independent lab testing measured 6.83 in, 8.21 out — never stripped flat like reverse-osmosis water.

Lab-tested (under-sink, Tempe). pH varies with source water.

What it is — and why it exists

Most serious filtration systems live under a sink. They’re plumbed in, they stay put, and they work beautifully — until you’re somewhere that isn’t home.

The Sentry H2O Portable System is the same heavy-duty two-stage filtration technology used in the Wellness System, rebuilt into a unit you can carry to a campsite, hook up at an RV park, hang in a barn, or keep in an emergency kit. It runs the identical Sentry H2O media: the kind that doesn’t just strip contaminants but actively adds back what good water should contain — minerals, oxygen, and a raised pH. You get filtered, alkalized, mineral-enriched water from whatever hose you happen to have access to.

Standard: $489 (MSRP $500) | Premium Upgrade: $549.99 (MSRP $600)

The two filter sets — which one is yours

The biggest decision you make at checkout is which filter set fits your water source. Get this right and the system performs well for years. Get it wrong and you’re either over-paying for protection you don’t need or under-filtering water that deserves more scrutiny.

Standard — ToxyGuard + AlkaGuard ($489)

Designed for city-supplied or pre-treated water — hookups at RV parks, municipal campgrounds, home use away from the house, seasonal cabins on city service.

ToxyGuard stage handles:

  • Chlorine and chloramine (the disinfectants municipalities use that make tap water smell like a pool)
  • Fluoride
  • VOCs (volatile organic compounds from agricultural runoff, industrial sources, and aging pipes)
  • Sediment, taste, and odor issues

(PFAS is measured at the system level: this is the same Sentry H2O media that, in independent lab testing of the under-sink system, drove most PFAS compounds to non-detect.)

AlkaGuard stage then:

  • Re-mineralizes the water with calcium and magnesium
  • Raises pH toward alkalinity
  • The result is noticeably smoother, cleaner-tasting water — mineral-rich, not just neutral

If you’re connecting to a known treated water supply and your concern is chlorine, taste, and general water quality, this is your set.

Premium Upgrade — BioChemGuard + AlkaGuard ($549.99; MSRP $600)

Designed for water sources with higher biological and chemical contamination — private wells, lake or stream hookups, water supplies of uncertain origin, international travel, emergency preparedness scenarios.

BioChemGuard stage handles:

  • Sentry confirmed in writing in October 2026 that BioChemGuard uses Argonide NanoCeram PAC media: NASA-derived, electropositive, pleated media that holds fine particles by charge as well as by size, with high flow and low pressure drop.
  • In Argonide’s own media tests, NanoCeram reached >99.99% efficiency at 0.2 micron (latex test spheres), >5 LRV retention of the test bacterium Klebsiella terrigena, >3 LRV cyst retention and >99.95% endotoxin removal; Argonide also lists virus among what the media reduces or removes.
  • These are Argonide’s own media tests of NanoCeram and NanoCeram PAC, not a test or certification of the finished Sentry system. No bacteria, virus or cyst performance certification has been verified for the supplied Sentry system, so if a source is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality, disinfect it before or after the filter.
  • More detail: What BioChemGuard does, and what we can prove

AlkaGuard stage then: same re-mineralization, pH raise, and oxygenation as Standard.

The Premium Upgrade costs more upfront and $70 more on replacement sets. For anyone tapping well water, backcountry sources, or any supply they can’t verify, that is not a close call.

What makes this different from a camp filter

Backpacking filters and gravity drip systems are built for one job: make water safe enough not to get sick. Most stop there — you get pathogen-free water that still tastes like the river, still carries chemical traces, and contains no minerals whatsoever. You’re trading one problem for another.

The Sentry H2O Portable System works differently:

  • It removes chemical contaminants (chlorine, chloramine, VOCs — and, measured at the system level in independent lab testing, PFAS) that survival-grade camp filters are not designed to handle
  • It adds minerals back rather than stripping the water to a flat, hollow taste
  • It raises pH — the AlkaGuard stage creates genuinely alkaline water, not merely filtered water
  • It’s designed for sustained daily use at a hose connection — not for squeezing water out of a stream into a bottle

Bottled water for RV living costs roughly $1,500–$2,000 a year for a couple. It produces hundreds of pounds of plastic waste. And despite the marketing, many bottled water brands are filtered municipal water — you’re paying a premium for something arguably no better than the Portable System delivers on tap. One filter set at $117 is replaced at 12 months or 3,000 gallons, whichever comes first (per installed filter set).

Setup and use — the real-world picture

This is where “portable” actually earns the word.

  • Large carry handle — pick it up and move it between sites the same way you’d move a small cooler
  • Strap hook — hang it from an RV bumper, a fence rail, a barn hook, a tree branch; no surface needed, no jury-rigged mounting
  • Plug-and-go hose fittings — standard garden hose thread; connect your source hose in, your delivery hose out; no plumber, no tools, no permanent install

Setup from box to filtered water: under 15 minutes. Teardown: under 5.

Where people use it:

  • RVs and travel trailers — hookup at any campground or RV park; city water or uncertain supply, the right filter set handles both
  • Equestrian operations and barns — horses are sensitive to water quality and chlorine in particular; the Portable System inline on a barn hose connection is a practical, low-maintenance solution that works with the water supply you already have
  • Off-grid cabins and seasonal properties — weekend or seasonal use on a well or surface source; the Premium Upgrade adds BioChemGuard, while AlkaGuard supports taste and mineral balance
  • Emergency preparedness — stored with an emergency kit; connects to a hose-bib water source; the Premium Upgrade is the only configuration offered on the emergency funnel
  • Outdoor events, job sites, remote worksites — anywhere people need clean drinking water from a hose connection

Maintenance — what you actually need to do

Filter replacement

Replace portable-system filters at 12 months or 3,000 gallons, whichever comes first. The 3,000-gallon limit is per installed filter set, not per cartridge.

Replacement sets:

  • Standard replacement (ToxyGuard + AlkaGuard): $117.00
  • Premium Upgrade replacement (BioChemGuard + AlkaGuard): $187.00

How to swap

The filters twist out and twist back in — the same tool-free process as the Wellness System. No plumber call, no special equipment.

Replacement filters are available at the refills page. An annual auto-ship interval does not account for usage; replace sooner if the installed set reaches 3,000 gallons first.

Accuracy note on what we can and cannot say

Evidence scope: The media documentation describes component properties. It does not establish microbial-performance certification or health outcomes for this finished system.

What we don’t claim: specific removal percentages or third-party certification numbers — the manufacturer does not publish these for this product, so neither do we.

Our commitment

  • 30-day return window subject to the restocking tiers in our return policy

Straight answers

Common questions

Is the Sentry H2O Portable System right for my home?+

Travel, off-grid living, RVs, equestrian and barn water supply, and emergency kits — anywhere you need filtration on demand. Not sure? Our 60-second quiz confirms fit in a minute.

How often do filters need replacing?+

12 months or 3,000 gallons, whichever comes first (per installed filter set). Auto-ship on the refill page renews the exact refill every 12 months at 10% off; replace sooner if your usage reaches the rated gallons first.

Eligible systems may be returned within 30 days after delivery; restocking fees apply. Sentry H2O filter housings carry a 1-year hardware warranty; see our Shipping, Returns & Refunds policy for the full terms.

Is there an option for travel or off-grid use?+

Yes -- the Sentry H2O Portable System brings multi-stage catalytic-carbon filtration wherever you go: camping, travel, or off-grid living where tap quality is unknown. Like the rest of the lineup it needs no electricity and produces no wastewater.

How do I handle a return, shipping damage or a warranty claim?+

Contact Mountain Pure Water first at (435) 990-3778 with your order number and details of the issue; include photos for shipping damage. We coordinate the review and issue any return instructions, including the correct destination. Wait for our instructions before sending anything back. Shipping damage, including broken fittings, is reviewed case by case. See our Shipping, Returns & Refunds policy for the 30-day return window, restocking fees and warranty terms.

Is shipping free?+

Free Ground shipping on every order, contiguous US. No minimum. Shipping is $10 to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. We ship to US addresses only. See our Shipping, Returns & Refunds policy for details.

What is catalytic-carbon filtration, and how is it different from reverse osmosis?+

Catalytic-carbon filtration uses specially processed activated carbon that reacts with and breaks down contaminants as water passes through multiple stages. Unlike reverse osmosis, our Sentry H2O systems don't strip the water of everything -- they target the bad stuff while leaving naturally occurring beneficial minerals in place. The non-RO city filtration stages produce no RO reject-water waste.

Does the system need electricity or produce wastewater?+

Our non-RO city filtration stages run on water pressure and produce no RO reject-water waste. UV accessories require power. Well treatment may produce waste or backwash water; requirements depend on the selected configuration.

Review of SENTRY PORTABLE SYSTEM

No More Filling Carboys!

My husband and I have now purchased 2 Sentry filtration systems… one (home) under-the-sink kitchen mount and one portable for our RV. We’d spend the last couple of years filling 5 gallon carboys with drinking/cooking water as the municipal source is unacceptable, so this has proven to be a great solution for us and such peace of mind!

Review of Sentry H2O BioChem OTG Bottle

Love the water bottle

I love the water system and shower filter. Huge, huge difference. I then purchased the water bottle, love that as well. I take it with me to the restaurant and put the water in to filter out the chemicals. Big thumbs up on this entire system.
